Quality Educational Systems, Inc. (QES) was founded in 1989 by Dr. Diane Rivers, a career educator with over 30 years experience at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in the classroom, building, and system levels.s, Dr. Rivers, President of QES, earned her Ed. D. from the University of Arkansas, and has extensive experience as an elementary, secondary, and university teacher, as an educational psychometrist and pscyhologist, and sixteen years experience in a variety of sytem level administrative roles. She is a member of numerous professional and civic organizations, including AASA, AERLA, ASCD, ASQ, and Rotary International, and has been listed numerous times in Who's Who in American Women, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in the South. S

he is a frequent speaker and writer, with a particular passion for creating and sustaining quality school systems. Dr. Rivers combines her practitioner's experience as a teacher and system level administrator with her experience as a consultant. She has provided educational leadership and consultation to urban, suburban, and rural school systems, colleges and universities, professional organizations, and businesses throughout the United States. Dr. Rivers is a member of ASQC, AQP, and a charter member of AASA's Total Quality Network. She also served as a member of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce's Total Quality Task Force, which she chaired in 1994, During her chairship, the Total Quality Center and subsequent Quality Council was formed.

She is a member of the Malcolm,Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners (2002 - 2006), including Report Writer, On Site Examiner, and Expert Advisor for the Education Case Study completed in 2004. She has also served as an Examiner (1996-97), Senior Examiner (1997-1999), and Overseer (1999-2000) for the Michigan Quality Council's Board of Examiners, where she also served as Chair for the Council's statewide K-16 Education committee. She is also a member of the Alabama Quality Award Board of Examinbers (2003-2006). Dr. Rivers has assited multiple schools in completing their application for state level Baldrige awards, many of whom have received those awards, due to significant results across all areas.

Dr. Rivers serves on the Board of Directors for WIPP Institute, as well as a National Founding Partner and member of the Corporate Advisory Board for Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), and chaired the bipartisan, national group's Education Committee. Dr. Rivers was recognized as one of "21 Voices for the 21st Century" by the American Society for Quality, and was featured in the January 2000 issue of Quality Progress. Dr. Rivers has designed and developed multiple web-based technology applications to assist schools in performance management. She is also a certified Franklin Covey trainer, providing leadership training in 7 Habits of HIghly Effective People, 7 Habits of HIghly Effective Teens, 4 Roles of Leadership, Leadership: Great Leaders/Great Teams/Great Results, 4 Disciplines of Execution, and The Speed of Trust to districts and schools across the country. In July of 2005, Dr. Rivers was nominated by President Bush to serve a five year appointment to the National Commission of Libraries and Information Sciences. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate and sworn in at the White House in December, 2005.

Her seminars, leadership forums, and learning materials combin an interactive, development approach, based on adult learning theory,enabling participants to embrace the philosohy of continuous improvement, system thinking, and strategic forces, internalize the concept, and emerge prepared to lead a quality initiative.

Dr. Donette Bower, National Project Team Leader for K-8, has served as numerous schools across the country, and has conducted educational audits and led strategic planning in multiple schools. She has assisted schools in submitting and receiving state leel Baldrige awards, upon full implementation of QuESt. She has effectively led multiple schools through a full QuESt implementation, with positive results. She has an earned doctorate from the University of Alabama, undergraduate degress from Samford University, teaching and administrative certifications, and is the coordinating author of the Alabama Social Studies book, Alabama: Its History and GeographyShe is the co-author of Linking the Thinking.

Judy Leek, Nat6ional Project Team Leader for 9-12, has served numerous schools across the country since 2001. Prior to that position, she implemented QuESt in 35 schools with 8 districts, including elementary, middle and high schools. In that capacity, she served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction, including responsibilities in the Administrative Council, Quality Improvement Leadership Team, Assessment, and Grant Writing. She has also been a Director of Gifted and Talented Programs, and has taught all levels K-12 prior to her administrative roles. She successfully led the SRESD through its application and receipt of the Baldrige-based Michigan Lighthouse Leadership Award. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where she holds a Specialist, Masters, and Bachelor's Certificate in Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as Administration. SHe is a certified trainer for cooperative learning, mastery learning styles, and all components of QuESt. Sh3e has led multiple schools, 9-12, including the SRES schools K-12, through full implementation of QuESt with great success. 

QES has been instrumental in implementing whole school reform initiatives in K-12 schools in rural, suburban, and urban settings across 20 states, in multiple districts and individual schools across the United States..

 

The services and products provided by QES are research-based and apply recognized best practices for high achieving schools.  Our services and products are specifically aligned to meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration (CSRD), and the national Malcolm Baldrige Education Criteria for continuous improvement of educational achievement.  On the state level, QES products and services follow the individual state curriculum standards.
