QuESt™ School Improvement Model

Quality Educational Systems - Tools for Transformation”

Q
uESt™ is a three-phase, comprehensive, whole-school reform model designed to assist schools in comprehensive school improvement through educational auditing, strategic planning and professional development. The QuESt™ model utilizes a synthesis of quality principles, standards-based educational research, and best practices.  The goal in the implementation of the QuESt™ comprehensive school reform model is “to improve the achievement level of all students, in all grade levels, and across all content areas.”  QuESt™ operates on the premise that improvement occurs at the process level; therefore, to improve schools, educators must improve processes.

The QuESt™ model for comprehensive school reform has been implemented in over 150 elementary, middle, and high schools in 19 states.  Many of these schools have been recognized for improved academic achievement and improved overall school operations at the national and state levels.  The model meets the eleven criteria required for a comprehensive school reform model, and it is listed on both the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory and the National Clearinghouse for Comprehensive School Reform web sites.

QuESt™ is specifically designed to improve all aspects of the school environment in an integrated fashion through a 3-7-10 design: 3 Phases, 7 Quality Principles, and 10 Key Processes.

Three Phases - Phase I: Quality Educational Audit (the first year of implementation) uses tools of self-assessment to collect school-specific baseline data.  The 7 Quality Principles serve as the basis for Phase II: Strategic Quality Planning and Design, and the 10 Key Processes are the basis for Phase III: Quality Development and Deployment.
